From the small market town of Iknioun, ascend Amalou n’Mansour (2,712m),
the highest peak in Jebel Sahro, and then set off across the remote and
mountainous heartland of the Aït Atta warrior tribe.
The trek includes the
twin rock towers of Bab n’Ali, the “Jewel of Sahro” and the oasis of
Igli.
Unlike the trade routes to the north, you will meet very few trekkers. The hiking trails to Pikey Peak take you through the lower regions of Solukhumbu.
Filled with natural wonders, you also get to experience the Sherpa culture of northern Nepal.
Mount Meru is one of Africa's highest and most beautiful volcanoes, with a route which passes through a wide range of vegetation up into a moorland. The summit of Mt Meru at 4,565m, is reached by walking along a very narrow, barren ridge, affording one views of Ash Cone.
